Sunday, October 30

had an early bedtime and up at 7 this morning. We went for a 1/12 hour walk on the beach. Lots of people walking their dogs but the resorts look pretty quiet. Took a few pictures but there wasn't much happening in the water.

Getting the fishing gear ready for the day.

This was the main course for breakfast. La sopa with tortilla strips and cheese.

Breakfast started with tea, followed by toasted baguette slices, orange juice, fruit plate and the soup.
We donned our bathing suits and headed out to the beach around 10. Ron went snorkelling and I swam. We stayed on the beach under a palm tree for about 3 1/2 hours, reading, swimming, and people watching. It did sprinkle a few times but not enough to make us run back to our place. Around two pm we returned to our room to shower and grab a bite to eat. We then walked into town looking for Layla guesthouse. AndrĂ© and Wendy suggested a tour that they run. After chatting with Robin we put a deposit and will be taking the tour on Thursday. Also after talking to the owner of our place we
decided that we would take a run into Cancun tomorrow to do a bit of shopping. He will be going in
and asked if we were interested in going. We said sure. We then sat on the lounge chairs outside reading and me working on the blog. Not sure where we will end up for supper, always a surprise for us.
The owner of our place recommended La Playita for supper. We had eaten there before the last few times down here. The treat is to choose a fish and they grill, bbq, or fry it. Unfortunately Ron is not a fish eater so I had a fillet of white fish and Ron had shrimp. They were both served in a diabla sauce which is spicy but nothing near the heat in the green salsa served with the nacho chips they gave us. My lips and tongue were on fire for at least 15 minutes...wow! After our meal we walked on the beach towards town. Not much going on as it is Sunday. Daylight savings time does not occur in the part of Mexico. They want to stay close to Eastern time as that is where most of the tourists come from. For now we are two hours difference from NB, but next week, when Canada changes, it will only be one hour. Back in our room now to relax, read, blog, watch tv in Spanish, and evently sleep. Good night all. Nothing too exciting today.

October 29th, 2016

We left for Puerto Morelos at 9:45 this morning. There was no problem getting a seat even though we were flying standby. This was the first day for direct flights from Moncton. We arrived at our destination 50 minutes ahead of time. Got through customs quickly then went out to find the bus line to take us to Puerto Morelos. There were a few other stops, so we got dropped off around 2:30. We went into the grocery store to get some beverages and a few snacks. We then boarded a cab and headed to our hotel. The owner was there to greet us and help us with our luggage. He's pretty laid back as we had not put a deposit and he didn't ask for any payment. Ron is the one who asked if we could pay now. Our room is small;  2 beds, small fridge, closet, bathroom and dresser. Breakfast is included and a different menu most days. Miguel, the owner,  is very nice and chats with us for a bit. After unpacking we hit the beach for a walk towards town. We take a few pictures and walk around for a bit. People are fishing on the pier. No boats in the water as the winds are pretty strong and coming off the water. A few people are swimming. It is overcast, but still warm and no rain.
We return to our room for a drink and head out again around 5:15 to search for supper. It is early but we didn't have lunch, only some pretzels on the plane. We decide on Mexican fare. I have fajitas and Ron has tacos. Off course, we chased that with a Margarita. After walking around town again, we head back to our room. Ron wanted to watch the World Series final. It's on, in Spanish... Should be an early night. Not sure what tomorrow will bring.

One more week

In one week Ron and I will start our holiday. First two weeks in Puerto Morelos, then onto Costa Rica for the last two weeks. Weather looks pretty good for Mexico but could be a little (lot) rainy in Costa Rica. Ah well, will bring our rain wear.
