We are awake early and have granola and yogourt again. We sit around for a few hours as we are scheduled to check in at 11:00. We finally decide to leave just after 10 and walk to the store with our luggage. The guy at the store calls a cab and we wait approx. 10 min for it to arrive.
We arrive at the Terminal and are well received by the Royal Caribbean staff. It's a quick check in and we are in the ship in no time. Unfortunately our rooms are not ready and we are told that they will be at 1pm. We sit upstairs on the 11th deck and wait for the buffet area to open at 11:30 to have an early lunch. We are not wanting to eat buffet style every day as we will need to be rolled off the boat.
At 1:00 we get the message that our rooms are ready, but our luggage make it until 3pm or so and if there is alcohol in the luggage, you are told that it will be 5pm before you can go to collect it. Barb and Shirley both brought a bottle in the bag so they will have to go declare what they have. Barb will be ok as we could have brought up to two bottles of wine each. It's not good for Shirley as she has a bottle of Scotch. She will have to hand it over and get it back next Saturday night, before our departure early Sunday.
As we are walking around the ship, getting our bearings, we see the cinema. We walk in and Vice is playing. Shirley had wanted to see it so we sit and catch the last 30-40 minutes. At 4pm there is an emergency exercise where we have to meet according to our room number. They go over emergency procedures in about 15 minutes. We return to our rooms.
Our room, twin beds
Little couch, tv, bathroom door, closet on the right.
At 5, Barb and Shirley go to pick up there luggage. Barb's suitcase handle is broken so she needs to take it to Guest Services to see what they will do. They keep it and say that they will try to fix it. Earlier in the day we had made reservations for dinner at 6 so we get ready. It's casual as we really don't have time to shower and get changed. We ask to be seated near a window so we are placed in a separate room with only 5 tables. We just luck into this area as it is much quieter than the big dining room. The other nice thing was our two waiters, Ian (from Trinidad) and Reggie (from the Philipines). They are so much fun. They are very entertaining and make us laugh throughout the whole meal and at the end, Reggie has a card trick. We will try to reserve this same table every night.
The menu has an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. I choose Mushroom soup, Salmon and veggies, and an apple tart with ice cream for dessert.
There are many options for entertainment so we first head over to the Centrum to listen to two musicians from Trinidad, one playing the keyboard, and the other singing. Shirley and I get up to dance and then others join us. Shirley and I decide to celebrate Mother's Day and get a white wine. We did not buy into the liquor package as it is very expensive, $500 per person. A single wine is around $11, plus 18% tip. Unreal... We then go to another venue to participate in a trivia game where we name the song and artist from the 50's to the 90's. We don't end up doing so well, 16 out of 31. The winning team had close to 30 points. We are off to bed around 10 pm. Shirley and I will hit the gym early tomorrow morning to participate in a stretching class.
There is entertainment in the Tropical Theater every night, so tonight
