Produce for the butcher got delivered.
This dog was so proud of his catch. He must have walked back and forth about five times. Maybe he was looking for his cat friend to show him how to eat a bird....
We get back, get our stuff ready and wait for our shuttle. The van arrived shortly after 8:00 with only one other tourist. Turns out there are only three of us today. Awesome. The guy who takes our vouchers gets dropped off a few blocks later and we are left with a driver who does not speak English. This could be trouble as the other tourist is of Korean descent living in California and speaks no Spanish at all. We' ll manage I'm sure. This driver has driven this route before and knows where to look for the animals. In a short period of time we pull over and perched on top of a dead tree is a falcon. At least this is what we believe him to be. The driver called it a "jaco". I googled that and it's the name of a town on the Pacific coast.
Maybe a laughing falcon. That's what we found on Google. Love the eyes.
We are driving through farm land. There are cows and horses everywhere. Then there are the fruits, papaya plants, banana plants, mango although not ripe yet, pineapples, and plantains. There are lots of fruit stands and I just wish we could buy a bunch of fruit. We could, just nowhere to put them.
Small pineapples
Cocoa beans.
As we turn off the paved roads, the driver stops again. This time it's a sloth. How people spot these animals is beyond me. I can hardly see them without a lens. They are so slow and camouflage well with the tree.
I asked if it was sleeping but the driver said that when it sleeps it wraps it's arms around the tree. Makes sense.
We could have stayed a lot longer and this animal would probably not have moved. Unreal.
We start to see the blue water in the river as well. The homes along the way are very basic but most have banana trees or pineapples or some fruit growing ont eh hard they also had lots of hens, cows, and/or horses.
We continue our drive on very bumpy, rocky roads. About 30 minutes of that.
We reach our destination around 10:00 to meet up with our guide, Ronal.
We start the hike into Tenorio National Park. The famed Rio Celeste is hiding about thirty minutes in. While walking, our guide explains what we seeing, the trees , plants, type of forest ext. he tells us that many animals and birds live here such as the Puma, the Tapir, spider monkeys, Capuchin monkeys, Jaguars, the Caoti, toucans, and many others. Fortunately the falls didn't disappoint because the only living things that we saw besides other people were trees, plants, flowers, and spiders. Our guide showed us pictures and videos of the animals he's seen recently; the Tapir and a Puma.
A first lookout. Rio Celeste, which means light blue River. For the last two days, the water was
brownish because of a lot of
rain. We really lucked out today.
What does Tks fruit look like? If you guessed bum, you're right. And it can be used to cure what you ask? Well Hemoroids of course.
After lunch we got to go soak in the river. It was cool.
Upside down monkey.
Giving this little girl and her mom a lift.
Arenal volcano on our drive back.
Not sure why this last picture didn't come down in size or even if it will show up in the blog. Around 6:45 we head out for supper. We will Pack tonight as we leave at 8:00 am. This area has been great and we could have found any more tours to take but it's time to keep going. We've also noticed that a lot more Americans are around. Thanksgiving holiday week is upon us.
