Cloud and sun today. 40% chance of rain. We go for our regular walk at 7:45 this morning. There's nothing special or unusual. It does seem quieter though. We get back around 9:00 for breakfast. We sit with Luigi and Marie-Elena who are finishing up. They visited Coba and Tulum yesterday so we get their take on the trip. They really enjoyed Coba, but by the time they arrived in Tulum the skies opened up and they got soaked. They showed us pictures. Looks great. We then talked about our day in Playa del Carmen. It's not a place for them. They like quiet and profound expériences. This would not be one of those. Afterwards Ron and I make our way to the beach around 10:30. By 1, I go back to our room and prepare our lunch; peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Around 1:30 we decide to go on a snorkelling tour. We go to the nearest spot pay our $25 each and head out toward the reef. They take us to two different spots at 45 minutes per area. We see lots of schools of fish near the reef and lots of coral: brain coral, fan coral, etc. here are some of Ron's pictures. It's a challenge to aim and focus as the current and winds were pretty strong.
My sister Janet would love these fans. There were so many of them..
We go out around 6:15 to do the nightly ritual. Walk around until we see where we want to eat. Tonight is a very unique and odd choice as it is newly opened, on a very quiet street, and we are the only two diners. Their menu is also limited. Drinks are of the non-licensed variety so we both choose a healthy shake. For the main meal Ron has chicken on a bed of coconut rice and I have the fish of the day, grouper, in a Thai sauce on a bed of coconut rice. It is serve on paper plates. And voilĂ , a picture.
The restaurant is in a modified railway car. We are eating inside as it rained earlier and could rain again.
