April 25- Sorrento

Another beautiful is at hand. It is a national holiday here so there are a lot of tourists milling about. We have breakfast were we are staying- yogourt, croissant, Ron has other pastries, of course, and there are fruit for a change. There are oranges and bananas. We leave around 9:30. Our plan is to walk to a place near the coast called “ Bagno delle Regina Giovanna”. It is a 30-35 minute walk one way. But that is not the worry. The sidewalk only takes us to about the first 300 m. We then have to take our chances and walk on a narrow, windy road, walking with the traffic coming in behind us. Not very assuring. Anyway, we do survive the challenge, there and back.

Beautiful landscapes once again

Near an area where people were sunbathing and some were actually swimming.
It’s nice and warm, but the water is still cool.

Lots of descent to get there and of course, the reverse coming back out.

Ruins of  a Roman villa, dating back to the 14 th century.

Where the sunbathers and swimmers were hanging out.

Sails boats were out today even though there wasn’t much wind to help the sails.

Very hazy in the background where we might see Sorrento.

Might our tour boat for tomorrow. Leaving at 9:00 to go to the Amalfi coast.

We return to our B&B to use the bathroom as we are walking pass. We then walk toward the busy
city. Ron has a sandwich made by this old guy in a grocery store. They never use butter, mayo, mustard, or other sauce, so Ron is getting used to dry sandwiches. We are attracted by some music. We see that  a crowd had gathered so we join in. Funny to see a group of Koreans playing instruments and singing. They speak English very well so they are probably from the US.

After their set is over we continue walking. We happen upon a market. We believe it’s part of their holiday ritual. Everything is yellow, as they are very well known for their lemons which I probably already mentioned yesterday.

Difficult to see, but a massive round loaf stuffed with ham and olives.

Cheese hanging and waiting to be sliced.

Making a sandwich. Slicing the ham, then the cheese.

Slicing ham. Notice how every tent is so yellow. Should have changed the settings on my camera. Ah well, you get the idea.

I didn’t finish the blog yesterday as I wasn’t  feeling well. Looks like I got sun/heatstroke. I was nauseous, sweaty but cold and very tired. I stay in From 3 pm on. I couldn’t go out, nor could I eat. I was finally sick to my stomach around 6 or later, so that helped. So no evening pictures.
