Florence April 3

Wednesday. Wow, we’re we ever tired. We both slept in until 9:30. Ten and a half hours of flight time and a five hour time change will do that. It was hard to sleep on the plane as it wasn’t that late for us. All good now. Had a little bite for breakfast then headed out. We decide to go to the Piazzale Michelangelo. It sits atop the city and on the south side, which is where we are. The were quite a few steps to climb, but worth it. We will come again for a night view tomorrow if it is not raining.

This was going down the steps

Seemed like a good frame with Florence in the background

We then walk back by the road. Ron started having a pain in one hip so didn’t want to do stairs. We return to see the sight in the center of town.

There is a wild boar near a market where people rub it’s nose, place a coin in it’s mouth to see where it lands when it falls. It’s to let you know if you be returning to Florence another time.

The road we took instead of taking the stairs

We went to the San Lorenzo market. It was raining so not much fun with the outside section. We go indoors to check it out. There’s a bit of everything. We will return for lunch tomorrow.

A cooking school in the market.

We then returned to our place around 4pm to rest and have a drink of wine. The owners had left us a bottle so we couldn’t leave it there. Around 7 we go out again, eventually searching for a place to have supper.

We walked on the Ponte Vecchio again so I took more pictures of the night time views.

We choose a place to eat on the south side of the Arno. It’s basic but busy. I order the ravioli and Ron has lasagna. They also give us bread and we each have a glass of red. Enough for day 2 and we head back. Now it is 10:15 pm and time for bed. Another day awaits.
